Scholarship information is coming in daily... be sure to check the list outside of guidance for update information. Recently added were The Altrusa Club of Warsaw, Kohl's Cares and Buick Achievers. The Kohl's scholarship recognizes students that volunteer and are active in their community. Winners are chosen based on the project, benefits and outcome . The Kohl's Cares Scholarship program is by nomination only. Students need to be nominated by a adult over the age of 21. To apply for the Buick Achievers Scholarship, students must plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. Additional information can be found for these and many other scholarships in the guidance office.

Attention freshman, sophomores and juniors: U.S. Senator Richard Lugar invites you to attend the 11th Annual Lugar Academy Days. This event will provide information about the nomination and admissions processes to students who may be interested in attending a United States Service Academy, The Ft. listen up- it's Poetry Out Loud, a state and national recitation contest where you select a poem and present it first for a WCHS audience, and if you're the winner you go on to state contest and if you win there it;s on to Washington D.C. with all expenses paid for the national contest! It's fun and exciting and we had a state champ last year, so we know it can happen for you too!.
So how do you get involved? if you are a freshman, you're already entered. For the rest of you, just see Mrs. Foster or Mrs. Sudhoff for the details. Then all you have to do is choose your poem, memorize it, and deliver it at our school contest on Wednesday January 25, from 4-6 on the big stage in the PAC! it's fun and a great way to start of term 2! Snowball Dance will be held January 28th in the Career Center Gym. This is a semi-formal dance for Freshman or Sophomores. Upperclassman are only allowed to come if invited by a Freshman or sophomore. Tickets will be available to purchase in the book store on Monday, January 23rd for $5. They will also be sold at the door for $7. Refreshments will be provided!

Just a quick reminder to those seniors applying for the Woodies Scholarship. The deadline for turning in your application is Monday, January 30th . Applications will be accepted in the guidance office until 3"30 pm next Monday. But what if we have a snow day on Monday, you ask? Don't take any chances, get your application turned in early and you won't have to worry about it. No application will be accepted after 3:30 pm on January 30th.

College Goal Sunday will take place on Sunday, February 12th at 2:00pm at Ivy Tech in Warsaw. This is a statewide program that provides free professional assistance for students and parents to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid application also referred to FAFSA. Financial aid professionals from colleges and universities all over the State of Indiana will volunteer their time to help students and families complete the FAFSA. Applications for the Indiana Oil and Gas Association scholarship are now available in the Guidance office. Students must have an 8.0 GPA or higher, show interest in the oil industry, pursue bachelor's degree with preference given for Earth Science, Engineering and Geology majors; and show financial need.

If you or your family are members of the Kosciusko County REMC, you can apply for KREMC scholarship. This application can be found on the Kosciusko County Community Foundation dick that is available in the guidance office. If you have not yet picked up this CD, what are you waiting for? Most local scholarship deadline are April 1st but many applications require letters of recommendations so you'll need to act early. Don't wait until the last minute. Next week is February already and April will be here before we know it.
